Do I need to have practised mindfulness before?
No, absolutely not. I will introduce you to the basics of mindfulness in the first session and each time we will explore the practice in greater detail.
What clothes should I wear?
Depending on the time of year, I suggest that you wear your normal gym kit with layers that you can take off if you get too hot. We will be a little start/stop at the beginning of each session. In the colder months, I would recommend wearing gloves.
What shoes should I wear?
I recommend trainers, and flexible older trainers are better. We want your foot to be able to flex in your shoe to ensure you get the most out of your optimal walking technique.
Where will we meet?
For each venue I will give you accurate instructions for where to meet me, and if in doubt I can always send you a location pin to your mobile.
When do I tell you about medical conditions or injuries?
When booking I will send you a health questionnaire which gives you an opportunity to tell me of any pre-existing conditions.
Will I be given homework to practise between sessions?
As with anything, the more you practise between sessions, the greater your progress! Yes, I will give you some suggested homework to do in your own time.
What about the weather?
I very rarely cancel a session due to the weather unless it is considered dangerous e.g. sheet ice or very high winds. I find walking in the rain invigorating and highly recommend it. You just need a waterproof jacket and a baseball cap.
Can I bring my dog?
Sadly not. I am a dog owner and love them, but during our sessions even a well behaved dog is distracting. However, a dog can make a great companion when you are practising Mindfulness Walking on your own.
What do I do if I need to cancel a one-to-one session?
You can change your booking up to 24 hours before the session by calling or emailing me. I will always try to be flexible, but a cancellation made less than 24 hours before the session will not be refundable or transferrable to another date.
What if I can't make one of my pre-booked group sessions?
Group sessions are pre-booked for specific times and involve a number of people. Therefore changes are not possible and you will have to forfeit that session if you're not able to make it.
Can I get a refund?
Once you have booked and paid for a session or a block of sessions, your payment is non-refundable except under exceptional circumstances. You will be able to postpone a one-to-one session as long as you give me more than 24 hours' notice.
